Sam Hammam steps aside.

SAM Hammam today dramatically agreed to hand over power at Cardiff City.
In a new twist to the takeover saga, Hammam took it to the wire before giving the green light to the Bluebirds' new proposals just before noon.
With Hammam agreeing to dilute his shareholdings of 82.5 per cent, it brings an end to a turbulent week in which the former chairman and Peter Ridsdale had been a loggerheads over the future of the club.
As revealed in the Echo today, Hammam had issued a series of demands he wanted to be met before he would consider stepping down at Ninian Park.
These included £10m if City reach and stay in the Premiership and a whole host of extra perk and privileges.
And the Lebanese-born businessman stormed out of a meeting in Cardiff last night when no agreement could be reached - throwing major doubt over the club's long-term plans.
But today Hammam has now signed up to relinquishing his shares ahead of next month's extraordinary meeting on January 12.
The details of the deal are not yet known - but more significantly for Cardiff City fans, it all means the proposed £30m new stadium remains on course with a £3m cash investment available for Dave Jones to spend on new players in the transfer window next month.

Full details in tomorrow's Echo.
